Italian Renaissance Sewing Box- Designing Ladies 2005
Italian Renaissance Sewing Box- Designing Ladies 2005
This box has an old-fashioned look because it is a reminder of late Renaissance times of my town. Massa, a little town in Tuscany, near the sea coast and surrounded by wonderful marble mountains, was once called "Massa Picta" which in Latin means "Painted Massa". Many houses of my town were colorfully painted with bright reds, pinks or deep yellow sand or Sienna colors, making a strong contrast with the white marble of doorsteps, windowpanes and floors. Those were the times in which our magnificent castle was full of nobles, music and art. The Marquis Alberico I Cybo Malaspina and his wife Isabella wanted the town to be splendid and renowned.

Katy's Sewing Purse
Katy's Sewing Purse
This purse is dedicated to my friend Katy and her family, the little daughter Hannah, the baby boy, Logan, and the husband Gary Fong. It is a joyful tribute to a joyful family.
A special quote of George Sand, a French noblewoman of the 18th Century, very well known writer and painter, is embroidered on the front flap. The quote “there is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved” is perfect for Katy and her family to whom this sewing purse is dedicated.

My Tuscany: a Shaker Box in Italy
My Tuscany: a Shaker Box in Italy
Special edition design ordered by Casa Cenina for the Festa del Ricamo 2007 (Embroidery Feast 2007).
The box is completely inside lined by embroidered panels, without use of glue or Velcro. The sewing smalls include a bodkin etui, a scissors pocket and fob, needle-book and pincushion. When Casa Cenina invited me to design and stitch a special model for the Embroidery Feast 2007, I thought that nothing could have been more proper than getting my inspiration from Tuscany, a beautiful Italian Region, where I was born and I live, and where Casa Cenina is located.
A complimentary design "Sun...flowers" will be added to the purchase from Casa Cenina.
